Extensive preparations are underway in Somnath, Gujarat, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on May 11 for the “Somnath Amrit Parv” celebrations, which are expected to attract nearly one lakh devotees and spectators.

The event marks the 75th anniversary of the temple’s reconstruction and the culmination of a five‑day religious observance that began with Atirudra and Maharudra rituals leading up to a Kumbhabhishek at the temple spire.

A massive dome‑like structure is being erected at Sadbhavana Ground as the main venue for the public gathering, roadshow, and cultural programmes, while intensive arrangements are being put in place around the Triveni Sangam area and other key hotspots in the temple town.

Around 1,600 state transport buses are expected to be deployed to ferry attendees, and security, barricading, crowd‑management and logistics plans have been reviewed at multiple high‑level meetings chaired by Gujarat Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani and senior district officials.

Within the Somnath temple precincts, authorities are planning special events, including a Surya Kiran air‑show and a series of cultural performances, to coincide with the Prime Minister’s participation in the Somnath Amrit Parv.

Officials, Somnath Trust representatives, and senior bureaucrats have been inspecting key venues along the likely PM itinerary, as the temple town gears up for what is being framed as a historic moment of national pride, civilisational remembrance, and spiritual reaffirmation at one of Bharat’s most iconic Shiva‑Jyotirlinga sites.
