Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel performed the groundbreaking for the Rs 950 crore first phase of the Ambaji Shakti Corridor, part of a visionary Rs 1,632 crore master plan to transform Gujarat’s premier Shakti Peetha into a world-class pilgrimage destination. The project connects Ambaji Temple to the sacred Gabbar Hill, where Devi Sati’s heart fell, and features multi-level parking, underpass roads, yatri niwas, Shakti Path, an amphitheatre, and modern pilgrim facilities.
Phase 1 development includes Divya Darshan Plaza, Sati Ghat improvements, Chachar Chowk expansion, Gabbar Arrival Plaza with light-and-sound shows, eco-friendly walkways, mythological murals, interactive galleries, and cultural exhibition spaces overseen by Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board. Phase 2 at Rs 682 crore will enhance the Gabbar Temple surroundings, Mansarovar, Sati Sarovar zones, ropeway upgrades, garba grounds, and parikrama paths.
Encroachments, including 79 unauthorized structures and 89 Rabariwas houses, were cleared following Gujarat High Court orders to enable corridor construction. The 2.5 km spiritually immersive pathway aims to cut temple access time to 20 minutes while boosting tourism and the local economy.
