A devotee’s offering of gold to cover the murti at Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple is now under scrutiny. Ramachandran Nair from Ayroor offered 58 sovereigns of gold in 2013 to cover the murti after its hand was damaged. He wanted to honor the deity and restore the sanctity of the murti.
Nair claims that when he visited the temple recently, he saw the idol covered in silver instead of gold. Questions remain about the whereabouts of the gold he dedicated 12 years ago. The incident has raised concerns among devotees about transparency in temple management.
Devaswom officials are examining old records to clarify the matter. The temple administration has not yet provided a clear explanation for the replacement of gold with silver or the handling of Nair’s offering.
This incident reminds us of the deep bond between devotees and their deities. Offerings to a murti are sacred and symbolize devotion, faith, and respect. Any mismanagement or lack of accountability can hurt the sentiments of the faithful.
The Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple is a historic shrine, cherished for its spiritual and cultural significance. Devotees across generations have contributed to its upkeep, ensuring that the murti and temple complex remain a beacon of dharmic tradition.
As followers of Sanatana Dharma, it is our duty to uphold the sanctity of temples and their practices. Transparency, respect, and reverence for offerings ensure that devotion is honored and preserved for future generations.
