The annual Vasantha Utsavam (Spring Festival) was conducted at Parimala Ranganatha Perumal Temple in Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu, with great devotional fervour.
The five-day festival for Lord Parimala Ranganathar was held at the festival mandapam located at the temple entrance. A special arrangement was made for Goddess Parimala Ranganayaki, who traditionally does not cross the temple threshold. An artificial lotus pond was created in front of the Goddess shrine within the temple premises, and the processional murtis (Utsava Murthis) of the Goddess were ceremonially placed there. The Agni Nakshatra Completion Vasantha Utsavam was then conducted with special rituals.
During the festival, a special abhishekam (sacred bathing ceremony) was performed for the Goddess using fruits, turmeric, milk, tender coconut water, and various other sacred offerings. This was followed by the special decoration of the deity and the performance of Maha Deeparadhana.
The festival, organised by the Rama Kainkarya Sabha, witnessed the participation of a large number of devotees, who attended and received the blessings of the deities.
The unique arrangement for Goddess Parimala Ranganayaki demonstrates the temple’s commitment to preserving traditional customs while ensuring all devotees can receive divine darshan.
Vasantha Utsavam celebrates the arrival of spring and the divine grace of Bhagavan Vishnu and Mata Lakshmi.
