The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has decided to build a memorial honouring those who sacrificed their lives during the 500-year-long struggle for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The decision was taken at a trust meeting chaired by Mahant Nritya Gopal Das on Saturday.

The trust announced that a temple will be constructed at the site where Bhagwan Ram Lalla and his brothers were seated before the pran pratishtha ceremony held in January 2024. The martyrs’ memorial will be built adjacent to this temple within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex.

This memorial will serve as a permanent tribute to the countless individuals who laid down their lives across centuries in the movement to reclaim the birthplace of Bhagwan Ram. From the kar sevaks who fell during direct action to those who endured persecution and violence defending the Hindu faith and identity, the structure will recognise their sacrifice as foundational to the temple’s existence today.

The trust also announced that around 400 construction workers who participated in building the Ram Mandir will be honoured in a special programme, acknowledging their role in translating devotion into architecture. Every stone in Ayodhya now carries the weight of memory, and this memorial ensures that those who gave everything for dharma are never forgotten.
