Udupi’s Sri Krishna Math prepares for Bruhath Geethothsava, Nov 8-Dec 7, 2025. A monumental 30-day spiritual festival led by Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji, outgoing Paryaya Pontiff, celebrates the Math’s 13th-century Dvaita legacy founded by Madhvacharya.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend on Nov 28 to chant the Bhagavad Gita’s concluding 10 shlokas, marking the faithful’s collective recitation of 100,000 verses.
Modi will inaugurate the gold-plated Theertha Mantapa and Kanakana Kindi, the historic window giving saint Kanakadasa darshan of Lord Krishna, symbolising faith’s inclusiveness. Devotees from across Karnataka are expected to gather in large numbers.
Security is enhanced with barricades, surveillance, and rapid response teams. Events include Sant Sangama Bhajanothsava and Koti Geetha Lekhana Yajna, blending devotional chant, discourse, and yagna on inner equanimity and ethical rule.
MLA Yashpal Suvarna called the festival prestigious and predicted rapid local development from the influx. Volunteers from ABVP, Hindu Jagarana Vedike, and women’s mandalis work to ensure warm hospitality.
Modi’s presence rekindles the Math’s aura, where Krishna’s prasadam and dialogues unite faith and statesmanship. This festival affirms Udupi’s spiritual prominence, where Krishna’s teachings echo as a beacon of collective welfare in a fractured world.
