Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new ISKCON temple, Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple, in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, on Wednesday, calling it a holy center that will enrich India’s faith and consciousness. During the inauguration, PM Modi expressed gratitude for being part of the divine event and praised the temple’s design as reflecting the entire tradition of spirituality and knowledge, with various forms of God visible throughout the complex.
PM Modi emotionally remembered former ISKCON Chairman Gopal Krishna Goswami, who passed away on May 5, 2024, noting that his vision is attached to this project and that his spiritual presence was felt despite his physical absence. He also praised ISKCON founder Srila Prabhupada Swami, highlighting how, during colonialism, Prabhupada took forward the importance of the Ved, Vedanta, and the Gita, linking Vedanta to people’s consciousness, and began the ISKCON mission at the age of 70, when most people think they have fulfilled their duty.
The Prime Minister spoke about how ISKCON followers are united by devotion to Krishna and congratulated all the saints, ISKCON members, and people of Maharashtra for this noble work. He also mentioned the Krishna circuit initiative aimed at connecting various pilgrimage and religious sites across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha, while highlighting his government’s continuous work in serving the people through initiatives like toilets in every house, Ujjwala gas connections, tap water facilities, and free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh for the poor
