A serious breach of temple sanctity was reported at the sacred Arunachaleswarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai.
Two youths from Hyderabad were detained after they allegedly attempted to photograph the murti of Arunachaleswarar and Unnamalai Amman using camera-equipped smart glasses during darshan. Temple staff stationed near the sanctum noticed suspicious activity and immediately intervened. The individuals were handed over to Tiruvannamalai Town police for further action.
According to reports, the act raised concerns about the misuse of modern technology inside temple premises, especially in areas where photography is strictly prohibited to preserve the sanctity of the space and protect sacred traditions.

On the same day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the temple and offered prayers at the holy shrine of Bhagwan Shiva. He also paid a visit to Sri Ramanasramam, marking an important spiritual moment at Tiruvannamalai.
Incidents like these highlight the need for greater awareness and stricter enforcement of temple rules. Sacred spaces are not just places of visit. They are centres of faith, discipline, and deep spiritual reverence for Hindus.
Respecting temple traditions is not optional. It is a duty of every devotee.
