President Murmu Completes Sacred Goverdhan Parikrama
President Droupadi Murmu performed the 21-kilometre Govardhan Parvat Parikrama today, becoming the first President to visit this sacred Krishna hill in Mathura.
Govardhan holds deep religious significance as the site where Bhagavan Shree Krishna lifted the mountain to protect the villagers of Gokul from Indra’s wrath. The full parikrama passes key sites like Danghati Temple, Radha Kund, Shyam Kund, Kusum Sarovar, and Jatipura. President Murmu offered prayers at Danghati Temple during her visit.
On March 20, the President met revered saint Premanand Maharaj at Shri Hit Radha Keli Kunj Ashram in Vrindavan. They discussed spiritual values and faith in promoting harmony and well-being in society.
President’s three-day UP Yatra included installing the 150-kg gold-plated Shree Ram Yantra at Ayodhya’s Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. She offered prayers to Ramlala alongside CM Yogi Adityanath and Mata Amritanandamayi.
In Mathura-Vrindavan, the President attended evening aarti at ISKCON Temple, paid respects at Swami Prabhupada’s samadhi, and prayed at Krishna Balaram Mandir. She also inaugurated Ramakrishna Mission’s new Oncology Block for cancer care.
