Patna High Court demands action on crumbling Deo Sun Temple and Umga temple complex. The court has ordered the Union government and Archaeological Survey of India to submit a comprehensive health audit within four weeks. Bihar government must file an affidavit detailing preservation efforts and future conservation plans.

The directive came after social activist Siddheshwar Vidyarthi and local resident P K Mishra filed a petition highlighting decades of neglect and structural damage to these nationally and globally significant Hindu heritage sites. The division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sudhir Singh and Justice Rajesh Kumar Verma took a stern view of the deteriorating condition.

Advocate Suman Saurabh argued that without immediate scientific conservation and expert intervention, these ancient temples may be lost forever. The absence of proper care has caused significant damage to structures that hold immense cultural and archaeological importance for Hindus worldwide.

This court order brings renewed hope that ASI will finally assume conservation responsibility. These temples are not just stones and sculptures. They are living witnesses to Hindu civilisation, faith, and architectural brilliance. When ancient temples crumble from neglect, a part of our identity dies with them. Preservation is not optional. It is duty.
