Massive 2500-year-old Shivling claimed found in Ganga near Shakti Ghat in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

Curiosity has increased among people after a huge and heavy Shivalinga was found in the Ganga River in Varanasi. This Shivalinga caught in a boatman’s net near Shakti Ghat in the Sujabad area was pulled out. Locals claim it could be a Shivalinga about 2500 years old and weighing two quintals.

There is an atmosphere of curiosity and reverence among people after a huge Shivalinga was found in the river Ganga in Varanasi. A heavy Shivalinga got trapped in the boatmen’s net near Shakti Ghat in the Sujabad region across the Ganga. After this, with the help of local people, Shivalinga was taken out and kept in a safe space on the banks of the Ganga.

According to information, this Shivalinga was found in the river Ganga about 200 meters from Shakti Ghat. Sailors were doing their work by casting nets in the river when this huge Shivalinga got trapped in their net. It was taken out after much effort. After this, Shivalinga was brought across the Ganga and kept temporarily outside the Ganga temple in Sujabad.

According to local people, Shivalinga’s weight is said to be around two quintals. 10 to 15 people had to try together to lift it. Looking at Shivalinga’s shape and stone texture, many people consider it extremely ancient. Some claim this Shivalinga may be about 2500 years old. While many believe it may be related to the Maurya period.

As soon as the news of Shivalinga being found spread, a large number of devotees started reaching there. The process of darshan and worship of this Shivalinga kept outside the Ganga temple continues. Devotees are worshiping it as a special blessing from Lord Shiva.

Namami Gange official Darshan Nishad said that it is considered to be a black stone Shivalinga, and at the local level it is said to be about two and a half thousand years old. He said it was the Shivalinga found on June 5. Later information about it reached people, after which it was installed on a platform of the Ganga temple.

Darshan Nishad said that the Archeology Department has also been informed in this regard. However, till now, no team from the department has reached the spot. Locals expect experts to examine it and provide information about its actual history and period.

Currently, crowds of people are gathering to see and visit this huge Shivalinga that has met Ganga. Different claims are being made about the antiquity of Shivalinga, but its history will be confirmed only after archaeological investigation.

The discovery of this ancient Shivalinga in the sacred Ganga is considered a divine blessing by devotees.
