Sheikh Haji Nizamuddin, General Secretary of Rajasthan Hajj Welfare Society, has demanded that the cow be declared India’s national animal to preserve communal harmony and prevent further disturbances across the country.

Speaking on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, Sheikh Haji Nizamuddin extended heartfelt greetings to the people of India and emphasized that the Quran teaches brotherhood and love. “Our Quran emphasizes brotherhood and love, and we are handling these matters in accordance with those teachings,” he stated.

He highlighted that several incidents of violence and killings have taken place across India in the name of mob lynching, disturbing the atmosphere in many parts of the country. “Looking at such incidents, the atmosphere has been disturbed in many parts of the country. Keeping in mind that communal harmony should not be affected and the environment should not be disturbed further, we have decided to demand that the cow be declared the national animal of India,” he said.

The demand comes as a proactive step toward preventing cow-related violence and protecting communal harmony between Hindu and Muslim communities. The Haj Welfare Society’s appeal reflects efforts by moderate Muslim leaders to address cow protection concerns while upholding Islamic teachings on peace and coexistence.

Cow protection has been a sensitive issue in India, with various states having different laws regarding cattle slaughter and protection.

May communal harmony prevail across India, and all communities live together in peace and brotherhood.
