aranasi honours 19-year-old Vedamurti Devavrat Mahesh Rekhe for completing historic Dandakrama Parayanam. The young scholar from Maharashtra achieved a feat accomplished in its classical purity after almost 200 years, reciting nearly 2,000 mantras of the Shukla Yajurveda Madhyandina branch in 50 uninterrupted days. He received a golden bracelet worth Rs 5 lakh and Rs 1,11,116, blessed by Shankaracharyas of Dakshinamnaya Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham.

A grand procession from Rathayatra Crossing to Mahmoorganj featured over 500 Vedic students, musical instruments, and shankhadwani, transforming Kashi into a vibrant Vedic festival. Devotees lined the streets, showering flowers and welcoming the yatra with devotion. A special message of blessings from Sringeri Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam was conveyed by Asthana Vidwan Dr. Tangirala Shivakumar Sharma during the felicitation ceremony.

Scholars emphasised that Dandakrama, revered as the crown of Vedic recitation due to its complex svara patterns and intricate phonetic permutations, has been performed only three times in known history. Devavrat’s recitation was flawless and completed in the shortest span. The Parayanam was conducted at Vallabharam Shaligram Sangved Vidyalaya from October 2 to November 30, supported by religious and social institutions of Kashi. Saints and Vedic scholars praised both Devavrat and his father-guru, Vedabrahmasri Mahesh Chandrakant Rekhe, chief examiner of Shukla Yajurveda Madhyandina Shakha exams under Sringeri Peetham.

When a 19-year-old dedicates himself to preserving ancient Vedic knowledge with such perfection, Sanatana Dharma proves its living continuity. This is the power of Guru-Kripa, discipline, and devotion. This is how civilisations endure.
