Vontimitta, the ancient temple town of Andhra Pradesh, is preparing for a transformation of historic scale. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has unveiled a master plan to develop the town into a national spiritual and tourist hub. At the heart of this vision is a monumental tribute to Bhagavan Shree Ram.

A 600-foot-tall statue of Shree Ram is proposed to rise from the sacred tank near the famous Vontimitta Shree Rama temple. If completed, it will be among the tallest statues of Bhagavan Shree Rama in the world. The image of Bhagavan standing in divine majesty over the waters will make Vontimitta a landmark for generations to come.

The project, prepared by the School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, envisions not just the statue but a complete transformation of Vontimitta into a world-class spiritual center. With its location along the Kadapa-Renigunta National Highway and Chennai-Mumbai railway line, the town will become easily accessible to devotees from across Bharat.

The plan includes beautification of the tank surroundings, modern facilities for pilgrims, and long-term infrastructure to manage the growing influx of devotees for the next 30 years. Yet, the essence of Vontimitta’s spirituality will remain untouched. The goal is to blend devotion with development, ensuring that the town becomes both a sacred and visually stunning destination.

For centuries, Vontimitta has been known for its ancient Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple, associated with the saint-poet Bammera Potana. Now, with this statue and the development plan, it will stand as a symbol of Hindu pride and devotion to Bhagavan Shree Ram.
