Hasanamba temple in Hassan, Karnataka, to open for annual festival from October 9 with 2 lakh devotees expected daily

The historic Hasanamba Temple in Hassan will open its doors on Thursday, October 9, for the annual Hasanamba Festival. This sacred temple is unique, closed for the rest of the year, it welcomes devotees only during this festival, which concludes on October 23.

Lakhs of devotees from across the country are expected to visit this year. The district administration has made extensive arrangements to manage the crowds. VIPs and special pass holders will have designated visiting hours from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., with dedicated vehicles provided from the Inspection Bungalow. Personal vehicles will not be allowed inside the temple premises to ensure smooth movement and safety.

The festival will formally begin at 12 noon on Thursday, following traditional rituals. Devotees can have darshana starting Friday at 6 a.m. Entry is free or by ticket, with ₹300 and ₹1,000 options, and separate queues have been arranged for ticket holders. Authorities expect around two lakh devotees every day.

Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, overseeing Hassan district, has closely supervised preparations, consulting officers and elected representatives to ensure a seamless festival experience. Cultural programmes will be conducted on three stages, celebrating the rich traditions and heritage of the region. Special tourism packages and heli-tourism have also been organized for visitors.

The Hasanamba Temple Festival is more than a ritual. It is a celebration of faith, devotion, and community. For centuries, devotees have come here to seek blessings, and this sacred event continues to inspire reverence and unity among Hindus.
