After nearly three months, donation boxes at the revered Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Agartala were reopened on Monday, drawing devotees and officials for the counting process. The operation covered 16 chests and donation boxes within the temple premises.
Administrative sources revealed significant foreign currency recoveries alongside Indian rupees, including US Dollars, Saudi and Kuwaiti Dinars, Nepalese currency, and Bangladeshi Taka. This harvest highlights the temple’s growing prominence among international pilgrims and tourists from across borders.
A 16-member team constituted by the Gomati District Magistrate’s office ensured transparency and efficiency. Despite intermittent rain causing brief disruptions, counting proceeded under tight CRPF security and administrative supervision. Deputy Collector Chandrashekhar Chatterjee stated the process would conclude between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
Temple authorities confirmed that collected funds will support developmental activities, including shrine maintenance, renovation, ritual events, festivals, and devotee facility improvements.
In a deeply moving moment, CRPF Constable Buddhadev Das donated his entire first month’s salary of ₹33,310 to the temple. His pure gesture of devotion moved everyone present, adding profound emotional significance to the proceedings.
