Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has praised the values and character of the country’s Hindu community, saying they form an important part of Canada’s national identity. The message was delivered at a gala organised by the Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce (CHCC).
Carney lauded the incredible contributions of Hindu Canadians, noting that their work brings vibrancy to the nation’s diversity and enriches its cultural fabric. The Prime Minister’s message was read by Liberal MP Sonia Sidhu during the event.
Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand, was honoured with the President’s Award at the function. Messages of congratulations were also sent by Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre, Federal Ministers Rechie Valdez and Gary Anandasangree, and the Premiers of Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Nova Scotia.
CHCC President Kushagr Sharma highlighted the organisation’s advocacy efforts and announced plans for an India Trade Mission in January, along with the expansion of CHCC chapters across Canada.
The event brought together MPs from both the ruling party and the opposition, provincial parliament members, and regional councillors, reflecting the recognition of Hindu Canadians’ contributions to society, business, and culture.
