Uddhav Thackeray has announced a Ram Raksha protest in Maharashtra from July 5 over the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ayodhya Ram temple.
He said supporters will gather at the Hanuman temple in Dadar, Mumbai, where they will recite the Hanuman Stotra and Hanuman Chalisa before raising their demand for accountability. The protest is being projected as a direct response to what he described as a theft from the sacred donation boxes of the Ram temple. He also called for strict punishment for those involved and accused the BJP of trying to turn devotion into political gain.
The controversy has now grown beyond Ayodhya and entered the political atmosphere of Maharashtra. Uddhav Thackeray alleged that the sacrifices made during the Ram temple movement cannot be allowed to go in vain and said those who committed the alleged loot in the name of Hindutva must be held accountable. He further claimed that the issue reflects a deeper crisis of trust, where faith, public sentiment, and power are being mixed in a troubling way.
This row has already triggered arrests, a formal FIR, and an expanding investigation by the Uttar Pradesh government’s Special Investigation Team. With fresh protests now being announced, the matter is becoming both a legal and political flashpoint.
