A case has come to light at Govardhan Police Station in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, where a young man posing as a spiritual preacher allegedly exploited several young, educated women over six years.
SP Rural Suresh Chand Rawat revealed that the accused, who had been residing in Radha Kund locality, claimed to be a preacher delivering online discourses on the ‘Gita’. Drawn by his sermons, several young, well-educated women came to live at his premises. “By systematically brainwashing them, he was continuously exploiting them. Several of these young women also reported instances of physical exploitation,” Rawat said.
Taking cognisance of the matter, a formal case was registered. The statement of one woman, who courageously came forward to speak out, was officially recorded. Based on her statement, a case of rape was filed against him, and he was subsequently arrested by the Govardhan Police.
The accused is a graduate of IIT Roorkee, having completed his Mechanical Engineering degree between 2017 and 2021. “Three young women were recovered from his premises and have since been taken to a de-addiction and rehabilitation centre by their respective families,” Rawat added.
The Govardhan Police are currently conducting a comprehensive investigation into the entire incident. “The Mathura Police will initiate appropriate legal action against anyone found to be involved,” he stated.
