US Senator Eric Schmitt targeted Indians and Hyderabad’s Chilkur Balaji Temple, widely known as the “Visa Temple,” while attacking the H-1B visa system. His X posts alleged the program suppresses American wages and creates a global “Visa Cartel” displacing workers.
Schmitt claimed programs like H-1B, L-1, F-1, and OPT are “hollowing” the American middle class. He shared a photo of Chilkur Balaji Temple, describing how thousands of Indians circle altars seeking passport blessings for US work visas. “American workers shouldn’t compete against a system this gamed,” he wrote.
The senator alleged billions flow to India for AI training subsidized by Americans. He claimed foreign students, nearly half Indian, receive taxpayer-subsidized work permits while corporations bypass payroll taxes. “They flow into H-1B, then green cards, while US grads with debt compete against cheaper labour,” Schmitt stated.
He further accused Indian visa holders of sharing confidential interview questions and Big Tech of locking out Americans through ethnic favoritism. This criticism ignores that India receives 70-80% of H-1B approvals, with Chinese nationals at just 12%.
Chilkur Balaji Temple holds deep significance for Hindu devotees seeking divine intervention for visa success. Reducing sacred devotion to political rhetoric dishonors Sanatana Dharma’s spiritual traditions.
