The Madhya Pradesh High Court has delivered a historic verdict recognizing the disputed Bhojshala complex in Dhar as the ancient temple of Goddess Vagdevi (Saraswati). The Indore bench affirmed that Hindu worship at this sacred site has never been extinguished.

The court observed that historical literature and records establish Bhojshala as a center of Sanskrit learning under Raja Bhoj of the Parmar dynasty. Architectural references confirm a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati existed at this site. The judgment grants Hindus the right to perform worship rituals while setting aside the ASI’s 2003 order permitting Namaz.

In a significant directive, the court suggested the Government of India consider bringing back the murti of Goddess Vagdevi from the British Museum in London. The Muslim side may request alternate land in Dhar for mosque establishment. Overall administration will remain with the Archaeological Survey of India for upkeep.

Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain called it a landmark verdict, partially setting aside the ASI order. Security has been tightened in Dhar district with additional police deployment. Collector Rajiv Ranjan Meena appealed to citizens to maintain peace and avoid spreading misinformation.

This judgment upholds Sanatana Dharma’s sacred continuity at Bhojshala.
