Kedarnath Dham Opens Amid Massive Pilgrim Influx

With the opening of the portals of Kedarnath Dham, the Char Dham Yatra has entered a high‑velocity phase as tens of thousands of devotees stream into the Himalayan shrine. The Uttarakhand government has put in place extensive arrangements to ensure smooth, safe, and dignified darshan for all pilgrims, including crowd‑control measures, medical aid, and transport upgrades along the route.

Kedarnath Temple Committee President Rajkumar Tiwari said it has been three days since the temple opened, and that the portals of Baba Bhairavnath Temple have also been declared open for devotees. He stated that around 1.1 lakh pilgrims have already had darshan of Lord Kedarnath and that the temple administration is functioning smoothly, with every devotee getting a fair opportunity for darshan. Tiwari also condemned attempts by some disruptive elements and social‑media actors to spread false narratives and defame the holy shrine.

Senior Kedarnath Sabha member Umesh Chandra Posti said that under the leadership of the BKTC and district administration, the current flow of devotees is being managed efficiently. He alleged that certain groups are circulating misleading information online to create fear and distrust, and urged pilgrims from across India and abroad to visit Kedarnath with full confidence. He highlighted that a token system has been introduced to streamline queues and reduce waiting time, while stressing that there is no mismanagement at the site.

Sabha Member Sanjay Tiwari welcomed all pilgrims and noted that Baba Bhairavnath’s doors are also open, reinforcing the spiritual significance of the twin shrines. He said the state government, district administration, Kedarnath Sabha, and residents have jointly ensured proper arrangements for accommodation, food, and darshan, taking into account Kedarnath’s challenging terrain. He dismissed the online rumours, calling them baseless and harmful to the sanctity and reputation of one of Hinduism’s most sacred Char Dham sites.
