Seattle Unveils First Swami Vivekananda Statue
Vedanta’s messenger rises in America’s Pacific Northwest. Seattle becomes the first US city government to host Swamiji’s monument.
A life-size bronze Swami Vivekananda statue was unveiled on April 11 at Westlake Square, downtown Seattle. Indian artist Naresh Kumar Kumawat crafted the work gifted by ICCR. Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson and Consul General Prakash Gupta jointly inaugurated it amid an Indian diaspora celebration.
Located near Amazon Spheres and Convention Center, the 400,000 daily visitor site now bears Vedanta’s eternal symbol. Local mayors and community leaders attended, highlighting Seattle’s multicultural embrace of Hindu philosophy.
