Ajmer Bhajan Event Sparks Protest
Hindu groups protested when singer John Ajmeri performed Qawwali dedicated to Khwaja Garib Nawaz during bhajan sandhya at Alwar Gate area in Ajmer.
Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists objected to Islamic devotional music at a sacred Hindu program. They chanted Jai Shri Ram, demanding that event organizers respect religious boundaries.
John Ajmeri abandoned performance as protests intensified, creating panic at the Nagra area venue. Hindu organizations called Qawwali inappropriate for Mata’s court during devotional hymns.
Activists warned against mixing traditions in Hindu events, hurting community sentiments. They urged temple committees to select only Hindu bhajan artists preserving sacred jagran sanctity.
Viral video divided social media while local Hindu groups remained firm. Organizers face calls for artist vetting to prevent future religious tradition violations at devotional gatherings.
