Mukesh Ambani donates Rs 15 crore to Guruvayur Temple. The contribution supports multi-speciality hospital construction.
Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani visited the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple in Thrissur, Kerala, on Sunday, offering prayers and donating Rs 15 crore toward the proposed Devaswom Multi-Speciality Hospital. Arriving by helicopter at 7:30 AM, he was received by Devaswom Chairman Dr V K Vijayan. Ambani entered with special darshan arrangements for 25 members, offered prayers at the sanctum sanctorum, and received prasadam from the chief priest along with a commemorative portrait of Lord Guruvayurappan.
Devaswom officials briefed Ambani about the hospital project and a planned modern veterinary hospital for temple elephants. He assured full support for both initiatives and offered technical assistance based on Reliance’s Gujarat wildlife conservation centre to improve elephant care and management. The visit was part of Ambani’s temple tour that included Tirumala, where he announced a state-of-the-art kitchen serving over 2 lakh meals daily, and Nathdwara, where he committed Rs 50 crore for a senior citizen service centre.
This philanthropic gesture reflects growing private sector support for temple-driven healthcare and community welfare. When India’s wealthiest contribute to temple infrastructure, they honour tradition while serving devotees. Such partnerships strengthen faith-based institutions serving millions.
