ali Mata murti vandalised and dressed as Mother Mary in Mumbai’s Chembur. Devotees at the temple inside Anik Village cremation ground were shocked to discover the goddess painted white, dressed in golden robes with a large crown topped by a golden cross. The murti was made to hold a child figure resembling baby Jesus. The shrine backdrop was changed to red cloth with a large golden cross and decorations.

Police arrested the temple priest Ramesh after devotees filed complaints. He was produced in court and remanded to two days of police custody. Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal condemned the incident, demanding prosecution of all involved and strong law and order measures. Investigations continue to determine who influenced or funded this deliberate assault on Hindu faith.
