Three-day Arudra Kalyanotsavam begins at Durga Malleswara Swamy temple in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh from January 2

The Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam at Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada will host the grand Arudrotsava Kalyanotsavams of Sri Nataraja Swamy with Sri Shivakama Sundari from January 2 to 4, featuring elaborate Vedic rituals and devotional ceremonies. Planned by the temple’s Vedic Committee as part of the Visvavasu year celebrations, the festival will blend ancient ritual practices with devotional fervor through traditional ceremonies.

The celebrations commence today with mangala snanams at 8 am, during which the deities will be adorned as the divine bride and groom. Evening rituals from 4 pm will include ankurarpana, agni pratishtha, dhwajarohanam, baliharana, neerajana, mantra pushpam and distribution of tirtha prasadams.

On Saturday, January 3, mulamantra homams, baliharanas, upasana and mantapa pujas will be performed in two sessions from 8 am to 11 am and 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The main event, the Leela Kalyanotsava, will take place at 6 pm, followed by Arudrotsavam abhishekam and annabhishekam between 10 pm and 11 pm.

Sunday, January 4, will begin with Uttara Dwara darshan from 4 am through the northern gate, followed by mulamantra homam, mantapa pujas and baliharanas starting at 8:30 am, culminating in purnahuti and dhwajarohanam at 10 am. The festivities will conclude with Nagarotsavam at 4:30 pm, featuring a procession of the utsava murtis.

The Kalyanam will be held at the Kalavedi opposite the Rajagopuram, with couples able to participate by purchasing tickets priced at Rs 1,000 per couple through www.kanakadurgamma.org, authorized online portals and the Mana Mithra WhatsApp app. Participants will receive shesha vastram, ravika and Sri Chakra laddu as prasadam. Special rituals will also be held at the Sri Malleswara Swamy Temple on January 3, marking Arudra Nakshatra, with abhishekams performed from early morning until Lingodbhava kaalam, followed by Mahanyasam at 9 pm.
