President Droupadi Murmu will perform Bhoomi Pujan and lay the foundation stone for the Jagannath Temple and Spiritual-Cultural Centre on Marine Drive, Jamshedpur, on February 26. Spread across 2.5 acres, the Puri-inspired white stone temple showcases traditional Odissi architecture crafted by Rajasthan artisans, with completion targeted in four years.
Shri Jagannath Spiritual and Cultural Charitable Centre Trust prioritizes early operationalization of the spiritual centre as a “sanctuary of consciousness” for youth, serving research scholars exploring spiritual sciences and cultural heritage. Philanthropic initiatives include girl-child education and healthcare for underprivileged communities, alongside moral-intellectual foundation programs.
The project originated during Murmu’s tenure as Jharkhand Governor, when the Marine Drive land allotment overcame encroachments and legal hurdles, marking her second visit to Jamshedpur within two months. Ranchi DC Manjunath Bhajantri coordinated logistics with the President arriving at 11:10 AM, departing 3:30 PM post-ceremony.
Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar joins spiritual leaders, dignitaries, and thousands of devotees expecting the Maha Bhog feast after the President’s address. The temple-cum-centre anticipates becoming a premier pilgrimage hub drawing Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar, and Odisha devotees, boosting religious tourism.
