The Andhra Pradesh government has allocated over ₹800 crore for the development of nearly 700 neglected ancient temples under the Sarvasreyonidhi scheme, while expanding Srivani Mandirs and digitising temple lands.
Endowments Minister A Ramnarayan Reddy said the state government allocated over ₹800 crore to develop 692 neglected ancient temples. “We have created history by allotting ₹813 crore under Sarvasreyonidhi to develop 692 neglected ancient temples,” he said.
The department has set a target to build 5,000 ‘Srivani Bhajan Mandirs’ at a cost of ₹750 crore with cooperation from TTD. Approvals granted for 1,270 ‘Srivani Bhajan Mandirs’ with allocation of ₹267 crore.
Annual allocation for ‘dhoopa deepa naivedya’ scheme in 6,137 temples doubled to ₹73 crore from ₹35 crore. The Endowments Department started blockchain-based digitalisation of nearly 4.5 lakh acres of land belonging to 22,672 temples to protect them.
Government extending ‘Annaprasada Vitarana’ (free food) to 3 crore devotees annually across 111 temples. Devotee footfalls in major temples rose by 70% in the past two years.
