The Vaikasi Brahmotsavam of Shree Varadaraja Perumal Temple in Kanchipuram, one of the 108 Vaishnavite Divya Desams and renowned for the famous Athi Varadar, commenced last Thursday with the ceremonial flag hoisting.
Over the past two days, the presiding deity has been taken in procession on various vahanams (divine vehicles) during morning and evening sessions, travelling through major streets of the temple town and bestowing blessings upon devotees.
As part of the festival, the much-awaited Garuda Sevai, considered one of the most significant events of the Brahmotsavam, was held in the early hours of today. At 4 am, the Lord appeared in the Alwar Mandapam, adorned with special floral decoration. Special rituals and Deeparadhana were performed, offering devotees a magnificent darshan.
Amid chants of “Govinda! Govinda!” by large numbers of devotees, the deity was taken around the temple premises on the golden Garuda Vahanam and reached the temple’s gopuram entrance. Thousands of devotees had gathered at the gopuram gateway to witness the sacred event.
Following a special Deeparadhana, the Lord proceeded through the town, blessing devotees, while thousands of volunteers and devotees accompanied the grand procession.
The Garuda Sevai represents Bhagavan Vishnu’s mount, carrying the deity to bless devotees, symbolising divine grace and protection for all Vaishnavites.
Sri Varadaraja Perumal’s divine darshan during Vaikasi Brahmotsavam brings spiritual merit and blessings to thousands of devotees.
