Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for a Rs 312 crore development at Maa Tarini Temple in Ghatgaon, Keonjhar district. The integrated project, spanning 60 acres, aims to transform the sacred site into a world-class spiritual destination within the next year. In an emotional address, CM Majhi said, “Maa’s grace has touched me, and I have been allowed to serve her. There is no shortage of funds because this work is being done with Maa’s blessings.”
The project includes a 216-bed yatri niwas, a pilgrim centre, an interpretation centre, a food plaza, a watchtower, a market complex, a prasad sevan hall for 500 people, parking facilities, upgraded roads connecting the temple, and beautification of four sacred ponds. CM Majhi criticised the previous BJD government for announcing only Rs 50 crore for the temple, calling it “a drop in the ocean,” and revealed that when his government prepared a Rs 100 crore DPR, there was no trace of the previous government’s Rs 50 crore allocation, no file, and no fund provision.
Beyond the temple, CM Majhi announced over Rs 35,000 crore for Keonjhar’s overall development, including a mega steel plant making Keonjhar the third steel hub after Rourkela and Kalinganagar, an eight-lane road from Paradip to Barbil, a Rs 2,300 crore four-lane ring road in Barbil, and other infrastructure projects. He stated, “The process to build a golden Keonjhar has begun. Keonjhar will play a special role in making Odisha the growth engine of India by 2036.”
When governments serve Maa with devotion and vision, development becomes unstoppable. This is how sacred sites should be honoured: with infrastructure, dignity, and commitment. Maa Tarini’s blessings will now reach millions more.
