The Mahakumbh Mela 2025 has officially begun, with nearly 60 lakh devotees participating in the sacred ‘snan’ by 9:30 AM on the first day. This massive gathering, considered the largest in the world, takes place at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, where the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers occurs.
As millions of devotees immerse themselves in the holy waters, the event has been seamlessly organized with state-of-the-art security measures. Drone surveillance, CCTV cameras, and a robust crowd management system ensure safety for all attendees. Uttar Pradesh Police have also deployed teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and water police to provide extra security and maintain peace.
This year’s Mahakumbh is even more special due to a rare celestial alignment that occurs once in 144 years, adding to the spiritual significance of the event. The first major Shahi or Amrit Snan will take place tomorrow, coinciding with Makar Sankranti.
Over 45 crore devotees are expected to visit Prayagraj during the course of the Mela, which will conclude on February 26. With expanded ghats, modern security arrangements, and the perfect blend of faith and technology, the Mahakumbh 2025 is shaping up to be both a spiritual and safe experience for all who partake in this sacred occasion.
The city is alive with the energy of devotion, as the world witnesses this extraordinary congregation of faith and unity.
