Two sadhus have been found murdered near the Pathreshwar Mahadev Temple in Haridwar, with their bodies discovered buried in a pit in a nearby forest area.
The incident came to light after a temple attendant informed police about the disappearance of the two sadhus and expressed concern that something untoward had happened. Acting on the tip-off, police teams led by Pathri police station in-charge Ravindra Singh reached the spot with forensic experts and began a search. During the investigation, excavations were carried out in the forest near the temple, where the bodies were recovered.
Police suspect the sadhus were killed and their bodies buried to conceal the crime. Reports indicate that one was strangled while the other was stabbed. The temple’s chief priest has come under suspicion and has reportedly been absconding since the murders came to light. Several police teams have been formed and are conducting raids to trace him and other suspects.
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community and raised serious questions about safety and security at temple premises.
