Over 100 Hindu-Americans gathered on Capitol Hill to mark the US 250th anniversary and raise concerns about rising Hinduphobia.
Hosted by CoHNA, the event brought together lawmakers, students, veterans, researchers, and community leaders for discussions on religious freedom, civic participation, and attacks on Hindu identity. Organisers said the delegation held more than 50 meetings before the main event and visited over 120 congressional offices to push for stronger engagement on issues affecting Hindu Americans.
The programme also featured testimonies on temple vandalism, campus discrimination, and the need for fair public policy. Lawmakers from both parties spoke in support of religious freedom and condemned anti-Hindu hate. Several also praised the contributions of Hindu Americans in public life, education, medicine, science, business, and military service.
For the community, the message was clear. Hindu Americans want recognition, protection, and a stronger voice in America’s democratic space.
