North Carolina’s Hindu community is constructing the Carolina Murugan Temple complex on 130 acres in Moncure with an unprecedented 155-foot statue of Lord Murugan, the world’s tallest murti of the deity. With a 35-foot pedestal, the total height reaches 190 feet, surpassing the Statue of Liberty and making it a monumental symbol of Hindu faith in America. The project represents Hindu America’s confidence and commitment to preserving Dharmic traditions across generations in the diaspora.
The massive temple complex will serve as a major center of spirituality and culture for North Carolina’s thriving Hindu community. The first phase is estimated at approximately 3 million dollars, with plans for comprehensive facilities including shrines, community halls, yoga centers, and cultural spaces. Lord Murugan, worshipped across South India and among Tamil and Telugu Hindus worldwide, embodies valor, wisdom, and divine grace. His elevated presence in America sends a message that Sanatana Dharma stands tall and proud.
